The ProducePay Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Manager is responsible for driving the successful implementation of sustainability best practices among ProducePay’s clients in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector. This role involves expert management of Environmental and Social (E&S) risks within the agricultural industry, including conducting thorough environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) and implementing and monitoring Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs) and experience applying IFC Performance Standards. The ESG Manager works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and promote sustainable practices throughout the client’s supply chain.

A successful person in this position is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable about sustainable agriculture practices and risk management. They should have experience working with IFC Performance Standards and possess the ability to identify and mitigate environmental and social risks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) for agricultural companies, including desk reviews, periodic field assessments, and evaluations against IFC performance standards and national regulations.
  • Identify and assess Environmental and Social Risks associated with clients, ensuring thorough and proactive risk management.
  • Perform ongoing client monitoring to assess compliance with ESG standards and identify any emerging risks or areas for improvement.
  • Facilitate collaboration with other departments to gather and manage client Environmental and Social documentation, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with the ESG team and other departments to develop and implement Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAP) and other sustainability initiatives.
  • Provide support to clients to ensure compliance with ESAP requirements.
  • Maintain and organize comprehensive documentation of client ESDD, ESAP, E&S risk assessments, and other relevant information using designated tools and systems.
  • Collaborate with other team members in the design and delivery of Environmental and Social (E&S) training programs for internal departments and external clients, ensuring consistent understanding and application of ESG principles.
  • Contribute to the preparation of ESG, monitoring and results reports, including data collection and analysis.
  • Assist the Senior Director of ESG and other team members with various departmental projects and initiatives, adapting to evolving priorities and contributing to strategic objectives.
